Teacher Training Programme with Melodie Batchelor
Senior Intermediate Iyengar Yoga Teacher
Melodie Batchelor will be conducting an in-house Teacher Training programme for Yusni Irene at her Yoga Premises in Jakarta.
The Training is to prepare teachers for their assessments and give them a deeper understanding of the teaching and practice of Iyengar Yoga.
Dedication and commitment to a daily practice is required to become an Iyengar Yoga Teacher. It is an ongoing process of learning and experience in the art of Teaching. The teacher training hours provides the guidance and from there the teacher must study and practice to reach the understanding required.
Melodie has been teaching Iyengar Yoga since 1992 and training teachers since 2002. During this time a programme as been designed by her to help students progress from student to teacher.
The Teacher Training Programme has is in four stages:
Stage 1. Practice and study of the Introductory Level 1 and 2. Syllabus 50 hours with the Teacher Trainer.
Development of a home practice will be cultivated by the Trainee.
Stage 2. Learning to teach the asana in a class setting with appropriate props and recommendations for Pregnancy, Menstruation, Injury or health issues 50 hours
Stage 3. Anatomy and Physiology 36 hour course and study of Philosophy 10 hour course.
Group discussion of the Yamas and Nyamas as related to the teaching and practice of Iyengar Yoga is included in the 10 hours.
Stage 4. Iyengar Yoga adjustment and assisting in class 50 hours
During these four stages a minimum of 3 classes per week with a designated teacher. The assisting in class will be facilitated by the designated teacher.
Successful participants will be eligible to participate in Iyengar Yoga Certification in their own region under their Iyengar Yoga Association.

Hingga kini warga dari berbagai belahan dunia berkunjung ke Pune untuk belajar di Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute atau dikenal dengan nama RIMYI.
Dalam kesempatan yang langka awal Desember silam praktisi Iyengar dari seluruh dunia menimba ilmu langsung dari Geeta S. Iyengar. Latihan yoga memang dapat dilakukan di mana saja. Tetapi latihan yoga bersama seribu orang dari seluruh dunia dan diawasi langsung oleh Geeta S. Iyengar merupakan pengalaman luar biasa buat Kharis Muhammad. “Itu pertama kali saya pergi ke India. Gak nyangka bisa yoga dilatih langsung Geetaji,” ujar praktisi yoga berusia 25 tahun itu.

The British Medical Journal recently published an analysis on the effects of too much salt in our diets.
According to their research, which looked at 13 studies from 1966 to 2008:
High salt intake is associated with significantly increased risk of stroke and total cardiovascular disease.

Setiap badan manusia berbeda satu sama lain, baik dalam struktur tulang, kelenturan otot, dan kondisi kesehatan fisik. BKS Iyengar menyadari hal ini, di masa awal berlatih yoga beliau bereksperimen dengan peralatan yang ada disekitarnya untuk membantu dirinya sendiri dan murid dalam berlatih yoga.

Trikonasana dalam bahasa sanskrit berarti segitiga; tri-tiga, kona-sudut, asana-gerakan. Dalam buku Light on Yoga, BKS Iyengar menyebutkan beberapa khasiat jika melakukan trikonasana secara benar:menguatkan otot kaki, membuka rongga dada, menghilangkan sakit punggung dan leher terkilir.
